TG relation: Sustainability

Areas mainly addressed: Healthcare, Robotics and AI/Big Data Value, Ethical, Legal, Social, Economic implications of robotics, B2B and innovation, Net Zero/Sustainability, Autonomy, Collaborative Robots and cloud robotics

Main questions to be answered:

· What have we learned from past robotics projects and what are the main challenges with the use of healthcare robots in institutional or home settings?

· How can we use robotic solutions to ensure the sustainability of care provision? Should there be a general solution or a specific solution done using co-design methodology?

· What should we observe when planning the introduction of robotic technologies in care for older adults? Which activities could assistive robots perform?

WS Description: The workshop will concentrate on the possibilities that the introduction of AI and robotics offers to ensure the sustainability of care provision for older adults and other clients, both in the community and in care institutions. In either of these areas, one can expect a range of effects including systemic ones (reduction of care burden) and individual ones (improvement of independence and quality of life). With the healthcare industry facing changing needs, ageing population and reduced budgets, technological solutions promise to provide support and assistance. The introduction of new technologies has significant societal implications and a range of ethical aspects that must be taken into account. The workshop will present use cases and success stories in hospitals and care homes, and the extent of help and support to caregivers, medical staff, and patients.

Intended outcome: Workshop discussion topics of common interest, success stories, use cases, etc, Workshop on recent developments in technology or applications, Information about community involvement and services offered (e.g. DIHs, open calls, platforms, …), Workshops engaging non-roboticists to understand needs/goals (policy, commercial, technical)
