Project cluster relation: Yes: Vojext has received funding from the European Commission under the H2020-DT-ICT-03-2020 call under Grant Agreement number 952197.

Areas mainly addressed: B2B and innovation

Main questions to be answered:

· Why do we need more artistic involvement to advance the manufacturing industry?

· Who are the S+T+ARTS Residency winners of the Vojext project and what are their ambitions?

· What are critical factors for a successful involvement of artists into industrial research and production?

WS Description: Robotic manufacturing and human-robot collaborative technologies offer unique challenges for SMEs for fast uptake, development and adoption. In addition to novel technology design and development with a diverse group of industry partners as well as DIHs, the VOJEXT project integrates artist residencies with a goal for introducing artist-led critical and alternative approaches to collaborative robotic interface design. The residencies investigate cobot interactions in construction and arts and crafts as sectoral application areas and social interactions as a cross cutting research topics focusing on safety, comfort, harmony as well as ethical paradigms such as fair labour systems, co-learning and skills development that impact the ability to adopt and diffuse robotic technologies by the workers in manufacturing SMEs.

Intended outcome: Workshop covering material new to ERF that the Robotics community should engage with

Approach: This workshop offers the chance to learn about how artistic experimentation can further innovation in the manufacturing industry. The S+T+ARTS residency winners will be revealed during the workshop at ERF. You will meet the organizers of the programme as well as two of the chosen artists.
